Easy to handle and perfect for travel photography!
1 of 1 found this helpful I shoot digital still shots and video with my DSLR and with video, I love the responsive and quiet follow-focus with the Canon 50mm f1.4 lens. It is perfect for general shooting and, when you stop down accordingly for depth of field, really nice for portraits. The lens has a nice "film" effect, and is wonderful if , for instance, you don't want to lug around your Canon 85mm f1.2 L monster. This Canon 50mm f1.4 is perfect for travel photography. Damn sharp and great colors. Canon has always had great "normal" lenses, and I have owned the FD f1.2 version back in the days of film, and it had become my "go-to" lens. This Canon 50mm f1.4 feels like it will be my new "go-to" on my DSLR. I love it!

The movie tells the age-old story,"if you make something Paradise, kiss it goodbye."
In 2019, the Dave Grusin soundtrack for "The Milagro Beanfield War" seems too laid back and somewhat dated. But the story and acting are top rate. It really seems as if Robert Redford found an actual town with real people to tell this story, and did not populate a set with a bunch of mechanical actors to get the job done. Even the big-name folk do well here. Perhaps with exception of Melanie Griffith, who never meshes with the story. The allegorical character of death is played ever so perfectly, even fooling the wise old man at the end. Never have we seen a movie with a bunch of low-riders picking beans in a beanfield! Great characters! Reuben Blades as the "trying my hardest to keep the peace" sheriff is superb. Nothing gets past Sonia Braga. A great cast with a loveable story of death and destruction!

Music, sword-fighting and magic of ancient Japan, help Kubo understand his family.
2 of 2 found this helpful The animation in Kubo and the Two Strings is stunning! Stop-motion animation with digital enhancement is fantastic! A story told through the traditional music of old Japan. Great feeling of reverence to the values of ancient Japan, as told by a young boy who wants to know more about his family. Kubo's parents were magical, and their story unfolds in this movie. It is a story which sometimes may be a bit frightening for the very young, but ultimately, the good in people prevails, and we can all feel better that Kubo has found his way successfully, with the help of his ancestors, to a bright future. There is much action, some of it fighting, but all of it handled with great care. A beautiful story. One to watch many times.
