Good addition to a train enthusiast's collection

Stay away from 1st gen. Bachmanns

The body of the locomotive was in good shape. The bodies of the tenders were in good shape. The locomotive would not run in either direction. The tenders had wheels disconnect from the trucks when it arrived. The wheels could be easily reinserted in the trucks. Apparently, with the 1st generation Bachmann J-class locomotives with the pancake motor, the drive gear slips. Furthermore, the wheel linkage mechanism was binding. The issues seem to be fixable, but if I had known the product was a 1st generation model, I would not have gotten it.
