Suitable for intermittent work
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this to augment a custom SMD rework station that is rather troublesome . After using this device for lightweight SMD rework , I am impressed with the precise temperature control of the airgun and the fast heat up of the soldering iron and the ease of tinning the tips . Most Chinese models are difficult to tin the tips and I am somewhat concerned about replacement tips for this model as I am not finding them readily available on the Internet. The red and black probe leads were very difficult to push into the female banana plugs and really don't fit correctly ; this is the only true flaw I have found in this product . I am also aware of the fact that this product may be at end of life as I have yet to find another model by the same brand and same model number available. This is not an unusual situation for some of these models but for the money if the product last three years it will have been well worth it .

After a year of swaying in the cab it still has tight coils
There is nothing more irritating than paying g a premium price for a communication microphone with a coiled cord only to have that cable relax the coils and become twice it's original length , breaks and has to be repaired a couple of times in a year. I service fleet 2-way and CB radios for oversize load haulers and the radios , even the CB has to work between the pilot cars to the load haulers without fumbling to untangle a microphone ; split seconds count. Been using these cables for sometime with very few problems when proper installation practices are followed . Take the time to plan your cable replacement and plan on a new correct size connector every other replacement or if damaged . Should the strain relief at the Mic head is loose when you begin your replacement , either use another cable or epoxy the strain relief and allow 24 hours to cure before install .

Exceeded the Requierments
After years of working with Metra products for car stereo installations it is good to see products made to fit after 25 years in this case that you you do not have to spend time making work due to the other deterorating plastic dash parts such as the shifted position of the adjacent glovebox door. When you first remove the kit from the box you realize that this kit is heavier than a lot of the competitor's kits and no blasted assembly needed. The only real drawback to this product would be if you are not comfortable working with plastic parts or you doubt your abilities the bolt-on tabs need to be handled with care. Even installers can break these tabs. I wish all mfgrs of these parts would include directions on how to properly prepare these dashkits for custom painting. Metra has always had high quality product controls and over the years I have only had to trash one Metra part due to poor workmanship. Look, when time is money in a custom install and fit is your reputation, Metra 95-3009 is the right part for reto-fitting a double DIN stereo in a dash that wasn't originally designed for this type of install. This product makes a first-timer llok good.
