Author tries hard but comes up short.

If the author had tried more to tell the stories and less to come up with spiffy acronyms and sermonizing, this would have be a good book. Over the years I have been fortunate to know several rangers. All of them seem to have a never-ending reservoir of stories relating to park visitors and park citizens. These stories range from hilarious to heartbreaking. The author’s presentation is rather bland and rote. If he had tried harder to entertaining and less to be cute it would have been a much more pleasurable read. Based on the book content I suspect the author was more involved with the administrative portions of the job than with day to day people/animal contact. There in nothing ‘wrong’ with this kind of duty. It’s just that if you have to heavily borrow on the experiences of others rather than your own it may be an indication that the prospects of a book are limited. It’s not a bad book, it’s just not all that it could have been.

Nice Item

Very nice convenient item. The kick stand only works on the horizontal but that is fine for me. The gripper is also helpful. I like the way is really does pop out and in. Well made and sticks on AOK.
