The First alert brand has an excellent reputation for these units. I first find out what makes and models have the highest ratings and then find the best deals online. Since this model uses a direct plug in outlet, I do not have to worry about any batteries. Even if the power goes off, so does everything else shut down such as the oil burner, all electrical appliances or anything that can cause a fire. It fills my needs for a system that offers good protection at a very reasonable cost.

Phony self charging "No battery" flashlight.
This is not a self charging flashlight. It operates on two CR 2032 lithium batteries and the so called charger does nothing. It claims to use no batteries, but has two lithium long life batteries. There is no connection between the so called charger and the lithium batteries.

Energizer batteries hold up well and don't corrode as fast, but I'm not sure of the ones made in other countries.
