Highly recommend for history buffs. Tough and below the belt. Not for the faint hearted that can't stand the sight of blood.
They said that the scenario of 1920s Chicago couldn't happen again? Well it did and this documentary points it out very well. Largely it went unchecked for years until the federal government finally got involved in the matter. This documentary starts from the cartel's operations from smuggling marijuana in the 1970s which wasn't all that profitable to cocaine which could make millionaires out of an ordinary Joe and how for years much of the operation was under the radar. But like everything else, it would start crumbling in the mid 1980s and with the arrest of Griselda Blanco (who spent 18 years in US prisons) largely ended much of the carnage. By the time "Miami Vice" premiered in Sept, 1984, the heyday of the Cocaine Cowboys was slowly ending.

Corporations, not just people fail too
Very compelling and telling it like it is from the man who was there and saw the meteoric rise and overcoming his father's desires to grow too fast--which was one cause of it's eventual sinking. Don't believe present day journalists who almost solely blame Circuit City's demise on Best Buy or other competitors. By the time the cracks started, Mr Wurtzel was helpless to do much as he was no longer in control. The real story of it's fall was bad management. First you had a guy who was well intentioned but ignored underlying issues, then another who was worse and then finally an all out tyrant who destroyed virtually all the morals and values the Wurtzels built over many years. When the last guy took command, it was too late as he only had four months to pull off a miracle. Buy this book and go thru the 60 year journey yourself. You won't be disappointed until the sad ending that happened between 2005 til the end of 2008.

Let's go for a cruise aboard the Princess !
The investment in a DVD set is small but the satisfaction of having complete episodes without commercials every seven minutes or heavy editing out of scenes is worth it. Not to mention no cable or streaming bills. Buy now while they are still available. This series had a great assortment of guest stars, many who got their start in the 1950s and earlier. Always good to see later in life appearances of such people.
