I have this reveiver
3 of 3 found this helpful This receiver is wonderful. You probably can't buy a better stereo receiver for the same money. ES was Sony's high end component line. Made in Japan during the cusp of the transition from analog to digital and having the best of both worlds. Powering a legitimate 120 wpc into stereo 8ohm speakers but also able to do pro logic surround sound as well. Built with the best Sony high end components before manufacture was moved out of Japan. If you are looking for a home theatre set up move on but if you are looking for a solid stereo receiver in the class of the ones made in the mid 70's look no further. Try to get one in great condition, mine is. Oh, and they look great too.

Sony STR GX99ES Excellent Receiver
1 of 1 found this helpful I have this receiver. It was Sony's top of the line stereo receiver in 1992. It was priced at $1400.00 in 1992. I have mine hooked to a pair of JBL 4312's and a Technics SL1200 MkII turntable. I am very happy with mine, sounds great. Mine is in mint condition, like new. I have a matching Sony CD player to go with. Looks great as well.
