About
I ABSOLUTELY hate all sellers that think that international means sending stuff to Canada. There are more countries in the world besides Canada. Mexico is part of N.America, so charging S&H as if I lived in Vietnam is abusive. To those sellers, GO DIE!

This beast is LOUD!!!
Ian Christie's SOUND OF THE BEAST perfectly nails down not only the history of rock's most powerful subgenre, but also its cultural impact on a worldwide level. Starting with genre trendsetters like BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, CREAM, etc. and continuing with the eventual ramifications this music went through (Hard Rock, Punk, Glam, Pop Metal, Thrash, Death, etc.), Mr. Christie is articulate enough to please both, scholars on the subject and newcomers alike.
American standards like VAN HALEN, MOTLEY CRUE, ALICE COOPER and AEROSMITH are widely covered along metal mainstays such as JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, OZZY OSBOURNE and KISS. I regretted not seeing much of bands which I considered important, either because they were ahead of their time (CHEAP TRICK), treaded familiar SABBATH turf (BLUE ÖYSTER CULT)or were criminally underrated (RIOT). Nontheless, most of the genre's defining bands are present.
A great deal of the book also chronicles the rise to stardom of metal's most successful band, METALLICA, spawning from the thrash metal movement that also gave birth to SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX. It's here that Mr. Christie shows us his area of true expertise: underground metal. From the groundbreaking efforts of DEATH and POSSESSED to the blinding grindcore of NAPALM DEATH and CARCASS, to the nightmarish scandinavian onslaught of EMPEROR and MAYHEM, SOUND OF THE BEAST covers them all. Ian Christie goes as far as mentioning elemental demo recordings from bands the world over: JAPAN, GERMANY, AUSTRALIA, FINLAND, BRAZIL, MEXICO, etc. Indeed, very few details escape Mr.Christie's vast knowledge on the subjetc. Some candid interviews and quotations from underground icons such as Katon De Pena from HIRAX and Danny Lilker from NUCLEAR ASSAULT/BRUTAL TRUTH and true rock gods like OZZY, Lars Ulrich, Dave Mustaine and Slash are spread throughout the pages of SOUND OF THE BEAST. Some pictures are included and a color section is located in the book's mid section but writing about one of rock's most visual subdivisions, more pictures would've been more than welcomed.
Still, SOUND OF THE BEAST is a must have for any metal fan: from butt shaking glam rockers to satan worshipping black metallers and everything in between, the book will surely become THE reference point for all things metal in years to come!

Incredible Quality and Value for Money
I still use DV tapes, and have tons of hours of standard filmed video in that format. The Canon Vixia HV30 is the perfect upgrade because it lets me keep those DV videos for future transfer to my PC AND, once I erase those tapes I can re use them and record on them in high definition. The HV30 is awesome when recording outdoors, in broad daylight, and even in dim lighted situations it delivers a more than decent image. It has a built in light for dark shoots, although it's not very good and you'd be better of using a dedicated light (which can be placed on top of the camera, in the shoe section).
The HV30 can also take 3.1 MP pictures, that come out fairly decent, easily beating smartphone resolution by far. The zoom is also very powerful and battery life is pretty decent (it can last over 40 minutes in constant use situations), althought it'd be wise to carry an extra battery pack for prolonged shootings.
This Vixia HV30 is a replacement for a HV20 I had that broke down. So much I liked that camera that I decided to stay close to the design and opted for its updated version. Having said that, there AREN'T many improvements over the HV20; only a slightly better HD resolution and a more powerful zoom.
I might buy a memory card/hard drive recording camera in the future, and if that day ever comes I'd still have my Canon HV30.
Only bad thing about this purchase is the moron who sold it to me; he forgot that he had to leave me feedback. Thank god I'm not buying from this jerk anymore!

Mandatory Metallica
This book was meant to quench the metallithirst of the hardcore Metallica fans, specially from the vintage period of the band. “Back To The Front” is one heavy (literally) book that chronicles the making of one metal’s most revered albums ever: “Master Of Puppets”. 1986 was a different time for Metallica, who were still considered an “underground” band on the brink of mainstream success.
With songs over 5 minutes long and a type of music that sounded like someone being hit with many steel baseball bats on the head, Metallica in 1986 were hardly anything but commercial, yet their success is still viewed as an anomaly. Other far lighter and more commercial metal bands did not garner the amount of press Metallica was receiving even back then. Their punishing, brutal yet technical and melodic brand of Thrash Metal was paving the way for hundreds of bands.
Just when you thought you saw every conceivable vintage Metallica picture, “Back To The Front” proves just how wrong many of us were, as we are visually attacked by hundreds of never before seen photos of the band on and off stage, in the studio and hanging out with friends and fans alike. The book is not only pictures, there’s some solid anecdotes by those close to the band from that era that makes this book such a fine read.
Fair weather Metallica fans should not bother; this is indeed a gift for the hardcore fan or at the very least, for the hardcore fan from THAT era, which many of today’s naysayers would argue was the band’s pinnacle.
“Back To The Front” is worth every penny, get it if you can.
