Very good product I would buy again
First, my disk storage needs are usually light. Many are moving to SSD's for high performance, but unless your computer supports an ACHI compliant controller, you will not get all the performance you are paying for.
To get increase performance over standard hard disks, the hybrid drive is the way to go. If you do lots of downloads, videos, photos or music with a fair amount of churning of files, the hybrid drive is better than an SSD.
I find the performance is very good and would consider this over an SSD in computers that do not support ACHI. I would buy these type drives over cheaper standard replacement hard drives. Most of the hybrid drives have 5400 rpm with a 32MB or 64MB cache and give good performance, but I wanted the 7200 rpm version.

Excellent product, very portable and good battery life
1 of 1 found this helpful I purchased a used HP 2540p laptop after doing some research on its features. The unit came with no OS which is not a problem for me. I was impressed with the advanced features which you don’t find on most computers. It’s a few years old and not as light as many current ultrabooks and notebooks. However, this unit came with an extended battery pack (adding to the weight) which is acting like a new one so far. The unit comes with three USB 2.0 ports which I wish were USB 3.0, but for the price, you can’t get everything.
When I began running the unit, I found the responsiveness and load times disappointing for me. More research indicated it had a 1.8” 5400 rpm hard drive. I know this will be slower than I would really like. So more research, to make the unit better lead me to replacing the hard drive with a solid state drive. I was able to get one about the size of the existing hard drive and I believe I did a proper migration to the new drive. When the laptop came up the first time you could see and feel the big change in performance. Now I have a good fast small laptop with good battery life.
