Folk Music's Great Voice - Stan Rogers
This wonderful documentary about the late Canadian folk singer Stan Rogers is mandatory watching for folk music lovers. Stan stood tall, and was celebrated for the depth of his songwriting, encompassing stories of his native Canadian Maritime region. He was also famous for his deep, baritone voice - so emotive on so many of his songs, as it took the listener from stage to sailing ship to plowing fields with a tractor on the Saskatchewan prairies. This movie is about Stan, his brother Garnet, and other band members...but also about what his music means to listeners. Music like this reaches into your chest and grabs your heart. And Stan Rogers' music more than most. Stan lost his life in the plane fire in the Air Canada 797 flight in 1983. So, now, to be able to hear him sing and speak...it means more and more all the time. I was very happy to see this movie arrive on DVD. I had the VCR tape and thought we'd never be able to see it again. So, buy this! Enjoy. Play it for your friends. And if you don't have any music from Stan Rogers in your collection....go get some. Let it enrich your life as it has for all of his fans around the world.

Time waits for one one....Not even Harry!
Continuing my quest to watch all the Harry Potter movies...... It's a little hard to watch Harry and the rest of the cast grow up / grow old. 8-) Part of the charm of the first three movies (and novels) is the young age of the characters. There's lots to be learned and discovered. But, in this franchise, as in life, time must march on. Harry, Ron and Hermione (and the rest of the school) have to grow up as did the audience. Now, the stories are a bit edgier, and we know that the big confrontation is coming soon, with He Who Shall Not Be Named. It's getting a bit scarier, and certainly more serious. All the Harry Potter movies are worth your time, just enjoy!
