Sony MDR-ZX110NC Noise Cancelling Swivel Stereo Headphone Black MDRZX110 #4 USED

    Decent sound but can't recommend
These headphones have decent sound for their price range and do cancel noise fairly well. I like to use them when mowing to drown out the tractor and enable me to listen to music without having to crank it up to the point where it is bad for my ears. For that, these do the job; I can listen without blasting my eardrums. Unfortunately, I can't recommend them for a couple of reasons. First, since I am using them outdoors, I sometimes have to deal with the wind. A strong breeze can cause an unpleasant whistling sound that resonates in the headphones, and it can also mess up the noise cancellation, causing the sound to cut out from time to time. It can get to the point of giving me a headache. The other issue is that the signal wire is hard-wired into the earphones rather than plugging into a jack. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it means that if the wire gets damaged or broken, rather than being just a dollar or two to buy a replacement wire, the headphones will be useless unless you want to do some splicing or soldering. It also means that I can't replace it with a wire with volume control, which is actually very handy because it lets me lock my player's controls but still adjust the volume as my music changes. Without these issues, I would probably give these at least four stars, maybe even five. Too bad that they spoil a pretty good product.

Great player for ALL your music!
I bought this player because I wanted something I could put my entire music library on, primarily to be used in the car so I don't have to flip CDs while driving. I would have been satisfied with just a basic player with lots of storage, but this player has proven to be much more than that. It has loads of options for playing and searching, along with presets for various listening uses. It has exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable. If I have to come up with a drawback, it is that this is considered an out-of-date model by Creative, and development for support has ceased. When mine arrived, it wouldn't work until I re-loaded the firmware, possibly due to static discharge or shock during shipping. There is support on Creative's website, but you have to go into the area for older products. There is no explicit support for Windows 7, and I could not get the firmware update to access the player under that version. Luckily, I do have an old box running native XP and was able to get it to work. Once it is up and running, though, it works just fine under Windows 7 for file sync and management.

    Don't expect it to last
After maybe two months use, the scroll wheel broke, out of nowhere. I was just scrolling it, nothing particularly stressful, and it broke. I have seen many reviews on other retailers' sites stating the same thing, all at around the same amount of use. So there is something simply flawed about the construction of this mouse, and my experience is not a fluke. Inexcusable for what is supposed to be a high-end mouse. Also, the software is horrible. Clunky interface, and easy to miss the "Apply" option at the bottom so that your changes don't get lost. And you can't tie profiles to programs, something that should be pretty much standard behavior. Overall, this mouse feels like it was made by cutting a lot of corners. Maybe that is why they seem to be continually running sales in order to get people to buy them.
