First Rate Genuinely Scary Flick
1 of 1 found this helpful In my opinion Mickey Rourkes best work, Robert De Niro is excellent, and Lisa Bonnet is brilliantly cast in this truely intense psychological horror film. Starts off innocently enough with Rourke being a street wise P.I. given a simple missing person job, and quickly and creepily evoloves into a deep and dark puzzle that has overt Satanic overtures and every time you think maybe you can figure out the plot, the film brilliantly throws another curve. Can't recommend this movie enough, excellent from beginning to classic and horrific climax. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. James

Christopher Lee playing it "Just Right"!
When Hammer pictures approached Christopher Lee with yet another Dracula movie, he was working and had just got done finishing a couple other projects of a more serious nature. Although there were time restraints to his schedule and the conscious effort to aviod the horror movie type casting, he took the movie like the pro he was, on the stipulation he would have final say on his lines in the flick. After reading the same cliqued dialect, he said he would do it in true Un-dead style and keep his banter to almost nothing, like a true Nasfaratu would. I believe this is 1 of the best of the Hammer horror flicks of the era, and in the ganra for that matter. The studio hired 3 pros to play the eager yet nieve bored rich businessmen who realised far to late they were in over thier heads with powers they couldn't possibly comprehend. The beautiful young actress played her part very well, and the actor playing his love intrest/ amateur sluth fit seamlessly into the story. Add the effeminate brothel owner and the actor who played the devious Courtly lead to some genuinely creepy moments. Back to Dracula who only had to count out his victims as they perished. One of the best in the Dracula series, dialogue at a minimum. J Seven

A Huge Planet of the Apes Fan
I'm an Old School P.O.T.A. fan, and have been a pretty stern critic of the movies over the years, and would religiously say 1, 2, & 4 were the cream of the classic Roddy Mc Dowell movie series. Didn't much care for the M. Wahlberg re-make although it did have its moments, the battle scene at the end is mad cool. However with "Rise", and the exemption of J. Lithgow being mis-cast, the genre is clearly back on track. "Dawn" is very well acted and the script is brilliantly written, some of the C.G.I. fight scenes are a bit long winded for my taste, and the producers / directors would have obviously made a few of the battle scenes more graphic and violent had they not had to desperately protect the precious PG-13 rating. Watch this movie even if you are not familiar with the P.O.T.A. story line, this flick will stand on its own. Very curious to see how this "War of the Planet of the Apes" will size up this summer and if the folks who make it will at least try to stay true to the genre or will butcher it for the sake of the all to powerful rating system. Such are movies in this decade. Sincerely James
