I occationally shoot weddings and have to have two of everything. 2 cameras, 2 or 3 lenses,3 or 4 batteries and 2 flashes. I got 2 different cameras, 3 different lenses, an assortment of camera andflash batteries but 2 of the same flash units.
The Sb-800....greatest flash I ever used with the exception of the SB-28 on my older film cameras.
Powerful, fast and dependable. These flash units are so good, they used to sell at $310 new a few years ago,and then there were obsoleted by Nikon and they made the SB-900 for $500....new SB-800 flash units are now selling for over $400 and used ones for $350 easy.
thats how good these strobes are. My only CON is they have a tendency to eat batteries. After 100 shots, the recycle time really slows down and often, I know the flash goes off but sometimes at 1/3 to 1/2 power and I have underexposed shots but at 130-150 shots, I change batteries or swap flash units.
Don;t try to save some money getting a SB-600,it not as powerful and unprogrammable as master unit in a multi-flash set up. Get the SB-800.....you will not regret it.,
