quality heavy piece

History of mid 19th century German Wars of Unification, extremely well written by American but lacks maps or pictures.
Excellent work of little generally known period of European history - the violent and highly effective unification of the German states under Prussia -one by a renowned American historian, an aspect which should add focus and excitement for the non European reader. The book suffers much, however, from publishers decision not to include pictures and photos of participants and especially MAPS. Battlefield history must include maps for the readers knowledge and focus. It seems a highly odd decision by the publishers to have no maps for the readers reference or pictures, readily available from the era.
