cherry finger touch
Cherry keyboards have always been a high quality and very robust keyboard and they are a perfect example of a good old fashioned solid keyboard.
yet with many new technologies on the market at the moment there keyboards are in a way outdated. keys are as with old keyboards long strokes unlike laptop style keyboards with there so called soft touch or easy press the cherry keyboards do tend to require slightly more pressure on the keys to work especially when new, they do soften up after a while but they keep the strong defined press.
the fingertip and card reader section is a technology which is kept hidden so to speak, software for the device is restricted for reasons i am not sure of maybe it is to keep them secure and to not allow the aid of breaking the encryption. saying that manufacturers such as seimens and few others develop the custom drivers used in industries for these keyboards but they are designed for the industrial custom applications and are not available to the public as such, unless you want to buy a complete EPOS system from them or so on which they develop the software for.
purchasing this keyboard was a decision based on the fact that cherry keyboards are industrial quality and very reliable and robust chunky solid devices and this proves to be exactly that. forget about the biometrics finger print part of the board and just use the keyboard this is exactly what you get and what i wanted from the product.
even the cable which is a usb connection interface is very thick and shielded in comparison to most other brands which use a far more cheaper cable which is noticeably thiner and more flimsy light weight the cable cherry use is heavy duty so to speak.
There is nothing and i mean nothing fancy about these keyboards and i mean nothing the LED lights are standard basic LED's no fancy colors no fancy shaped holes or shining plastic parts just strait plane forward green LED's.
all in all the keyboard is a very good keyboard but unless you are a linux developer or low level programmer who wants to reverse engineer the biometric finger print in linux or any os, then don't buy it for the finger print access as the driver will not work with this board. as mentioned above the biometrics are there for those who will use it and is not intended for the home PC market it is more geared to offices and industries who need a very easy effective system to manage guest users, clients and staff.
price wise this is superb as it is not easy to find a high quality very robust cherry keyboard like this for less than £30.00 GBP so forgetting about the biometrics and buying this keyboard for it's high industry standard quality as a keyboard is highly recommended and i am over pleased with the quality of the keyboard. it is exactly what a keyboard should be i am sure secretaries would agree as they do like a keyboard that you can feel you know you pushed the keys on. it is sometimes difficult to know if you pressed the key on a lighter keyboard and causes more mistakes. cherry keyboards key pressures are very well balanced and well defined with the pressure needed to type.

Good uses bullet type bulbs.
This tester is an incandescent bullet type bulb and is robustly built. It is not indestructible however and the ground lead is not very long. For quick diagnosis of fuses under the hood or to see the child signal test it works well. By testing a ht Coul signal wire you can see the light flicker on every ignition event digital or led probes can not test this. This also works for checking a fuel pump, you can find out if you have a bad ground or high voltage drop as light will light across a bad ground. Good item but ground lead is way too short.
