    Love this book.
This book is wonderful for all ages in dealing with the death of a beloved cat. I love the pictures and all the wonderful things cats get to do in heaven. My grand kids love it and it has helped them to accept the death of my cat and the sudden death of their own beloved cat. I would recommend this book to anyone who has lost their pet cat. It is a comfort and makes you smile when you realize your cat is in a better place.

Kinetic Models [KIN] 1:24 P-47D Thunderbolt Plastic Model Kit KIN3207
    Oct 26, 2015
    1/24 scale Kinetic P-47D Thunderbolt
This is a reissue of a kit originally marketed by Vintage Warbirds. Kinetic apparently purchased the tool when Vintage Warbirds went belly up. If you consider the tool is fairly old and represents old-school modeling technology. It's not bad at all but not on a par with newer issues such as the Airfix Typhoon, or even the Trumpeter 1/24 offerings. The plastic itself is harder and less flexible than the Airfix plastic and on a par with the Trumpeter product although there are thicker moldings because of the age of the tool. Not a lot of flash and no warpage to speak of. It starts out promising, as there is a real decent representation of the twin-row Wright Double Wasp engine. A nicely done interior as well, although some seatbelts would have been nice. Thank God for the aftermarket. A nice touch is the canopy. If assembled properly, it will slide open and closed. Gun bays are well detailed and the covers over them are molded in clear plastic so the guns can be displayed without painting the covers. There is also a detailed ammunition tray with bullets molded in which installs in the left wing. This was an ambitious kit by what was an underfunded company (Vintage Warbirds). You can tell when they ran out of money. None of the control surfaces are articulated, for instance. Even the Fowler flaps can only be displayed in two positions: open or closed. When Kinetic acquired the tool, apparently they re-did the instructions, which were none too good in the original issue. Sorry to say, they are no better than the original. I have modeled for over 50 years, and I had to sit and study the instructions several times to be sure things went together properly. That being said, the decals were something else altogether, thin and easy to apply, a big improvement over the original issue. My only complaint is that there were no placement notes regarding where to put the small stencil markings, so I had to more or less guess on the placement of these. However, the surface detail is pretty decent. Right now it is the only P-47 available in this scale (To my knowledge). I chose to model the aircraft depicted in the cover art. Using Alclad ALC-101 as a base coat, I then used three other shades of Testor's Model Master Buffing metalizers to simulate the aluminum panels and buffed it out with Turtle Wax paste chrome polish, followed by a black pin wash to pick out the panels. The result is very realistic and actually looks like aluminum. It is handsome and striking for a model of this size. Since the model was so large, it was relatively easy to add some extras such as a motorized propeller and functional running lights and I-F-F lights. These are powered by a 2200 mah onboard lithium polymer rechargeable battery of the type used for powering up laptops and some cellphones. It is recharges via a 1/8" charge jack located on the underside of the airplane. There is sufficient power when charged to spin the propeller and light all the lights for about 2-1/2 hours. The working features are toggled on/off by two miniature toggle switches located in the left wheel well. If you like to model in this scale like I do, this model fills a gap nicely. Not of Airfix or Trumpeter quality, but then again, beggars can't be choosy.
