Lotte Black Black Stick Gum Doesn't Taste Like Mint
The reason I ordered this gum is that I read several independent claims online that Lotte Black Black chewing gum was the strongest and longest lasting mint gum available. Since I wanted something to chew while dieting, I bought ten packets on the basis of these claims. The result was very disappointing - this stick gum has little flavor at all, and loses what it has in a few minutes like other gum. So far the longest lasting stick gum I have found is "5" brand, spearmint flavor.
I think I might know what went wrong. When I was shopping for gum at an international market I found a black bottle of chicklet-style gum from Korea labelled simply as "STRONG MINT GUM". These have a layer of straight menthol between the gum and the black coating that makes these intense, though still not particularly long lasting. Since Lotte Black Black also comes in bottles of chicklet-style gum, perhaps these have the intense mint flavor I was looking for.

A Few Details to Consider
I chose this kit out of all the ones on eBay because it has enough carbon atoms (34) to make the large organic molecules I am interested in. However, I didn't expect ten of these carbon atoms to be sp2 hybridized - meaning three planar holes instead of four tetrahedral holes, and two to be sp hybridized. This is to give the modeler a choice whether to show single and multiple bonds explicitly or to treat the bonds as equal due to resonance. But it means I have to order another kit to have all the atoms I want. Also, the nitrogen atoms are all sp3 hybridized except one which has three holes, but which are not planar, so you can't make a model of pyrrole without the hydrogen sticking out of the plane. This is slightly embarrassing and makes me want to drill a correct hole in the blue ball.

Needed Repair But Then Worked
This "hand flasher" arrived broken because the flint had come loose and was rattling around the inside of the toy. I could shake it out, but couldn't see any easy way to open it to reinstall the flint. I had given up and told my grandson he would just have to shove a ferrocerium rod into the spark opening, against the flywheel, to get sparks, when my daughter managed to fix it somehow. After that it did work, giving small bursts of sparks that lasted about a half second per run.
