Navajo History: The Land and the People Hardcover by Bill Acrey 1998
    Feb 05, 2024
Navajo History - The Land and the People
"Navajo History - The Land and the People" by Bill Acrey was published in 1988 by the Central Consolidated School District out of Shiprock, New Mexico. It has been the primary textbook for the Navajo / Dine schools for years. It is still an excellent teaching book or source for historians. The book provides a information and history that is not taught in the rest of the country but is priceless in the Navajo Nation. Copies are few and harder to find. A new Navajo school textbook is in the works right now. "Navajo History - The Land and the people" is a gem to find and anyone with a copy should pass it down to their children and grandchildren..
Cannibalism at Mancos Canyon UTE Tribal Park Colorado Archaeology

    Prehistoric cannibalism at Mancos.....
"Prehistoric cannibalism at Mancos 5MTUMR-2346" by Tim White makes for excellent reading for researchers and layman. It doesn’t matter whether one supports or disbelieves the concept of southwestern violence and cannibalism. As a professional ethnographic archaeologist, I found it outstanding with its details and documentation supporting paleoanthropologist White’s discussions. Some segments of the archaeological field have discredit White’s work in the past, yet his work on early hominids in South Africa is astonishing. White worked as a archaeologist discovering the 3.4 million year old remains of Australopithecus afarensis . White worked with the team of Richard Leakey in the 1970’s, who was so impressed with his work, he recommended him to his mother Mary Leakey to work in Tanzania. Starting in 1976, White worked with Donald Johanson on the famous 3,2 million year old skeleton called “Lucy.” White is noted for his own discoveries of countless early man and hominids working at the University of California at Berkley. These are major credentials. Prehistoric Cannibalism should be read to make your own conclusions. This is no light-weight or easy/quick reading book. It does draw you in with fascination and clear, concise writing. Now out-of-print, it is a prize to find and offers an excellent perspective on this interesting aspect of ancient Southwestern life.
