Overlooked Gem!
1 of 1 found this helpful One of the most underrated Baseball films of it's era. Baseball fans will love the appearance of Hall Of Fame pitcher Carl Hubbell as himself in his front office role with the New York Giants. Other members of the team's player development department also appear as themselves . Robinson's portrayal of real-life player and later Giants scout John "Hans" Lobert is outstanding. There is a definite physical resemblance between the two. Incidentally Lobert is one of the players featured in Lawrence Ritter's classic book "The Glory Of Their Times". Though the plot and ending are a bit predictable (this is the 1950's after all) the enjoyment of this piece of baseball history is not diminished. If you're a baseball fan and enjoy the game's history you'll enjoy "Big Leaguer".

One of the Overlooked Shows of it's era.
Excellent show with many memorable episodes. Turkeys Away is one of the best episodes of ANY series. Strong writing excellent cast made this a great show. The reissue provides all the episodes, though it could have included a booklet with a listing and synopsis of episodes as is the case with other complete series sets I've purchased. Still the quality of the show more than makes up for any minor shortcomings like that.
