Best surge protection, highest quality components, will likely last forever
The SA-82's provide the patented (expires in 2025) series mode protection of more expensive SurgeX products at the a more reasonable cost. IMO, at list price the SA-82 is too expensive, discounted, or preferable used off eBay, they can't be beat.
The SA-82 also provides powerline filtering and overvoltage protection.
If you open an SA-82 you will find only the highest quality components. For example: the SA-82 is limited to 8 amps, but the interior wiring is 12ga boat cable, good for 20A. These things will likely last forever.
