Good value for money, but has limitations

Good value for what it is. Requires installation of one surface mount IC. FM performance is good, but the small aerial limits signal pick up. Not suitable for weak signal areas. AM selectivity is poor - this could have been improved if an MK484 had been supplied instead of the TA7642. Careful orientation of the radio to null out the offending signals does help. Cute little radio, but don't expect too much. See my more detailed description by searching for my website, cool386 vintage technology.

Does not fit 1996 Hilux

Advertised as fitting a 1996 RN85 Hilux from all suppliers, but in fact does not. The curve profile of the alloy guard mounting is incorrect, as is the plastic piece which goes on the outside. It is not even possible to force it to fit. See pics to compare the AP77 against the original. Additionally, the bottom section of the aerial is not long enough to reach the mounting point inside the guard. I later found the aerial supplied by carparts2u is a perfect fit with no modifications required.

Red Top Optima superior to conventional lead acid battery

Smaller and lighter than a conventional flooded lead acid battery. Non spillable which means no acid fumes corroding the terminals. More importantly, much lower internal resistance. No flooded lead acid battery has ever started my Model T Ford as quickly as the Red Top Optima. Less critical in terms of discharge damaging the battery.
