Bessie Smith . . . . Empress of the Blues
I was actually looking for another album and spotted this little gem. I realised that I had very little recorded material from this legendary artist, so I placed a bid and won. I have not been disappointed. The original recordings that were compiled onto this CD may be old, but the talent shines through on every track. There are probably very few blues singers today that could match this sort of performance. This is not Back to Basics, this is the real deal. A piano, a guitar a great voice and a single microphone with the result cut directly to a disc. It may be old, but the guts and the glory have not faded. This is One Hundred Percent Proof. Accept no substitute.

Eduard 1/72nd Spitfire IXc Profipack. Short review.
A very short review of this kit. Absolutely the best I have seen in this scale. Eduard have raised the bar again, in terms of quality and value. I have also just bought their Fw-190A in the same scale and the quality is evident through every part. They include a full plastic kit with enough highly detailed plastic parts to model a number of variants, thanks to the team for adding alternative parts and small, but fully comprehensive decal sheet. The build sequence is intricate, but covered very nicely in the well produced instruction book. Icing on the cake, is the superb set of precoloured photo etched parts. On the promise of their 1/48th Spitfires, I knew that I had to buy this model. I bought two, and I'm very glad that I did. I will be after a couple more in the near future. In my opinion, with their recent releases, Eduard have taken the top step of the podium. For quality and value for money, I don't think that they can be beaten and I'm looking forward to their next releases. I have been modelling for 60 years and I reckon that these are some of the best kits ever produced.

A Daily Dose of Dilbert
I have retired now, but I still like my daily dose of Dilbert. My job could be very demanding, but I was lucky in having some good managers who basically let me get on and find solutions to the production issues and product introduction and quality. On the other hand, I had managers not unlike Dilbert's, who were a never ending source of undue annoyance, where I had to explain in detail why I had taken any particular action to improve a process. I countered this by returning the best results ever, maintaining them and improving the process and the quality. My good bosses were always keen to back me as they had good and accurate graphs and figures to post at meetings, which showed a continuous improvement.
A little piece of Dilbert gave a daily chuckle. It shows you that you are not alone. It's a little kick against the system.
I feel that I could write a few pages of Dilbert's ongoing battle against incompetent management, the Kiss-of-Death projects and the constant Micro Management. The struggling co-workers, the supportive ones and the less than reliable ones, not to mention the 'Total pain in the arse' ones.
Have a Daily Dose of Dilbert. Up the revolution.
Well done Mr Adams.
