    Winter Study by Nevada Barr
I read this book a couple years ago from the local library. I liked it so much that I read more Nevada Barr books, and now have assembled a library of all her books I bought used, via Ebay. I like to read them over and over again. They are perfect for long winter nights at our off-the-grid cabin in the deep northwoods. Winter study, however will be summer reading because it chills me to the bone. That's how vivid Nevada Barr's writing is. I like most all of her books because I love the wilderness and the National Parks, many of which I have visited. The Author's descriptions of nature are so vivid and authentic. The reader can imagaine being there. I find the leading Character, Anna Pigeon someone I can identify with. Her adventures are exciting, interesting, and she always gets the bad guys in the end. Trying to guess "who done it" and why is always a challenge and ususally I don't guess right. Then I read the book again to find the clues I missed. Every time I read a Nevada Barr book I enjoy it more, much like hiking a well-known and much-enjoybed trail in your favorite park.
Eat Right for Your Sight: Simple, Tasty Recipes that Help Reduce the Risk of Vis

Complicated recipes take too long to fix and require too many ingredients.
The recipes need more exotic ingredients than I have on hand and I don't want to buy all that stuff I won't use very much. One recipe I made was healthy and fairly easy, but didn't taste very good. It is hard to make meals of vegetables that I hate the taste of, and a cookbook can't change that. My kitchen isn't big enough to keep all those ingredients on hand or to keep all those herbs and spices fresh. Best just to scramble and egg and throw in some kale. Don't need a cookbook for that.
OZ Corer 3 in 1 Apple Slinky Machine Peeler Fruit Cutter Slicer Kitchen Tool

    It works well
This is a better product than I expected it to be. I have an old one made of steel about 40 years old; and it worked great. It clamped to my counter and peeled the apples with a sharp adjustable flat steel blade that could be sharpened and adjusted. As with most old good stuff, It wore out. With no replacement blade, I needed a new machine. I didn't expect much from a light aluminum product with no clamp. And as expected the rubber vacuum thing that's supposed to hold it on to the counter doesn't work. But the rest of the machine is better and more easily used than the old clunky one was. All I have to do is hold it down with one hand and crank it with the other after I get my apple in place. It peels like a dream and does older softer apples which the old one simply twisted off the holder. I'm very pleased with it and would have given it five stars if the vacuum clamp worked: But I didn't expect it would, so I'm not disappointed and surprised at how efficiently it peels, cores and slices an apple, any size or shape. In addition it has adjustments the old one did not have, so either the peeler or the corer can be removed for more variety in uses for the apples. I'm very pleased with the product. The old one will go on display with my other antiques.
