Best telescopic rod on the market
I got this 8' telescopic rod for when I'm hanging out at the beach with my wife and am only fishing opportunistically because when she's with me we're spending a lot of time eating, drinking and shopping. This rod allows me to carry it on my backpack without it sticking way up over my head so we can go into restaurants, bars and shops no problem.
Then when she wants to kick back on the beach I have an 8' rod that can cast my lures, jerk baits and jigs nearly as well as my dedicated 10' surf rods. The extra floating guides on this rod make a big difference in its handling characteristics and it fishes just like a regular two- or even one-piece rod albeit with a little more attention needing to be paid to alignment of the sections.
I have a smaller 7' model that handled a 3' gar in Kansas with ease (and fit perfectly in my carry-on flying to and from) so I have no doubt this heavier model will handle anything the SoCal surf throws at me and whatever big surf lures I want to tie on.
The quality to price ratio on these is through the roof, by far the best telescopic rod I've ever seen or handled in its price range. No need to look at the expensive ones because this one is it.
