This Hasegawa P-38 kit is a great model with a history few know about. Be sure to read the "trivia" note!
\A great model P-38 with Tommy McGuire decals. Interesting story about him if you research. Don't buy the hype from the "McGuire AFB" PR folks who put too friendly a spin on their McGuire namesakes' story though. I believe Hasegawa is one of the best model makers around. Well detailed kits and not extremely difficult to build, okay for most beginners but also appreciated by more advanced hobbyists. WARNING: do get some extra strong decal fluid for the nose and air intakes. The severe curves need all the help you can bring to bear when applying the 'face' decals. Watch YouTube tutorials and read the bottle directions! It may be wise to leave the three decals locked away for a bit until you gain confidence. You'll get no second chance if you don't get it right the first time, and that's from the first moment you slide the decal from the backing. Suggestion; practice with some unused decals and spare model parts over compound surfaces. The decals are easy, but only after you've learned how to apply them. A great model, usually low priced and some significant history in both Europe and the Pacific. -----
TRIVIA NOTE: If you know the name Clarence Leonard "Kelly" Johnson, the American aeronautical and systems engineer, it's likely because of the "Skunk Works" and a couple of certain aircraft. He had a previous connection to another specific airplane before those. Hint, there's an Air Force Base named in connection to Kelly Johnson and that plane!

The book itself is not the problem with 'WORLD of BOOKS USA'. The shipping option indicated USPS with tracking. The tracking number is 30 digits long! It was NOT traceable by the USPS link. Three messages to the seller for assistance were answered with no attempt to assist, only to 'blow off' the inquiry with no explanation. I still don't know who they choose to ship with, but eventually it magically appeared on the USPS site when it finally arrived, with erratic tracking included. AVOID!
