Vintage Yamaha YK-10 Keyboard For CX5M Computer
    Mar 29, 2016
Nice piano keyboard controller for the Yamaha CX5M computer.
The YK-10 is a piano keyboard controller for the Yamaha CX5M computer released in the 1980's. The Yamaha CX5M is an MSX-1 compatible computer. It is important to note that the YK-10 is not a MIDI compatible controller. It uses a proprietary cable to plug into the CX5M. The YK-10 is built tough and can take a quite few knocks. The keys are not weighted but they do have a nice springy response and are comfortable to play. I can't remember the exact number of octaves but I think it is around 4 or 5. It is not a full 88-key keyboard. The unit is quite heavy and will not move around on a stand or desk if played aggressively. The only downside to the unit is that it will only work with the Yamaha CX5M or CX5M-2 personal computers. As a controller it does not produce any sounds on its own but utilizes the computer's built in synthesizer.
