Good product but could be better
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this hummingbird feeder to replace a flimsy plastic low-capacity suction-cup window-mounted model that self-destructed after only a couple of months in the desert heat in my area.
I looked for the sturdiest one I could find, and this appeared to be the one.
Instead of mounting it near a window, I installed a strong 15" hand-forged hanging hook high on the blockwall of my patio. In doing so, I ran into a problem after I filled the jar with nectar and tried to hang it on the hook. The loop on the wire handle on top of the feeder was so short that I had to tilt the feeder to engage it on the hook, thus spilling much of the contents on the ground. I just put the feeder up yesterday and so far I haven't seen a single hummingbird taking advantage of it. However it had been raining all day (unusual for this area), and I still anticipate seeing many of the little creatures flocking to it once they discover it.
This appears to be one of the best products of its kind on the market, but it could be vastly improved with only a couple of small changes:
1. A longer wire hanging loop to minimize spillage when inserting it on
a hanging hook.
2. Making the bottom container out of corrosion-proof stainless steel to
avoid rust damage from the sugary liquid.

Nice design, good value but I can't use it
Took less than a week to arrive here from China. Was well-packaged and in good condition. Came knocked-down with clear assembly instructions. Parts were precision-cut and it was easily assembled in about an hour, using only a Philips screwdriver. It is a sweet design, appearing the same as in the photo. Only one problem: it is far too small for my small dog -- an 18-lb pug/Chihuahua mix. He wouldn't even go near it. So I have arranged to sell it to a friend who has a much smaller female Chihuahua. He believes his dog would love the deck, although she probably wouldn't use the enclosed part. We're located in the Southern California desert, where it rarely gets cold enough for dogs to seek shelter.
