Vibratory Plate Compactor 79cc - Dirty Hand Tools
    Apr 27, 2019
    Economy compactor.
So I bought this as my first compactor, thankfully only to do work around my house. My first experience with a dirty hands log splitter was very poor, I ended up having to replace the engine after 2 uses and weld the left guide rail back on with only 2 cords several emails and no responce from dirty hands. I received the compactor fairly quickly. It was packaged well, but the housing for the air filter was cracked. I contacted them and they replied quickly and sent out a replacement for the housing quickly. Once I received it I ran the compactor. It started right up very easily, but no compaction. I sent emails to via dirty hands web page with no responce. Sent via Ebay and got a responce in a couple days. The rep was extreamly nice and informative. They have sent out a new belt. I hope it fixes the issue as it's been about a month still without a useable compactor. My feeling are a little mixed because it dosent work, but I feel I am getting good customer service which I honestly didn't expect considering my last purchase. So I am hopefull and am giving 4 stars because customer service seems to be responsive and good even for an economy model such as this. A little depressed that I still can't start my projects, but for the price if it works out eventually it still may be better than renting, but will see. Customer service is the difference vs a 1 star rating. I am thankful they are standing behind their product even if it is less than ideal I bought a budget compactor. ***updated*** Several months after purchasing a brand new compactor I still do not have an operational compactor. I have been in touch with coustomer service which seemed more than willing to help, send out parts to fix it... they tried finding a local shop, but after being told to take it to a place I drove all the way their just to be told they wouldn't even look at it. The next place was basically the same way, but said they would take a look, but seemed extreamly unhappy to do so because warranty work dosent pay anything or half the going rate. So now 4 weeks later I dont even have a non working compactor... so if I actually want to get any projects done this year I will most likely have to rent or by a half decent product. As a consumer this is seems like the worst possible outcome so far. If I put half the time into work as I have put into trying to get this thing running most my projects would already be done. Why aren't these things atleast tested before being shipped out?

    Good unit for the price
I have a husqvarna and it's great. I got this as it's a little cheaper for the size. Has some issues with the engine flooding, but after I got the feel of it it has started and runs strong. I love using it and though it's a little heavy it's got plenty of power to cut through quickly. Been a year and its performed to expectations very well.

Solid performace, good relighablity. Could use a slight comfort upgrade.
Had this for about a year so far and love it. Some people dont like the placement of the throttle control and it can be a bit odd. I usually hold it sideways which seems to put less stress on my arm and wrist over prolonged periods. It is heavy, but it's also one of the most powerful blowers on the market. I give it a high 4 because there are a few quarks that maybe some other models would be more comfortable to use all day long. From what I have seen RedMax is owned by Husqvarna? and most pros seems to like its ergonomics better. Not that is terrible, but if they made a few improvements or possibly just kept the redmax design it might be a solid 5.
