Ipad 64G-3G

I rated this product high because it is the first and is the first real attempt to make an intuitive, small, laptop replacement. It is very powerful but is awkward to use initially since it has limited ways to copy files onto and off of the unit. Having said the above, this unit is amazing. Without any reading of manuals or much else, I picked it up and have been amazed by its ability to show detailed images, surf the internet, process emails in multiple accounts, use google earth, view netflix movies, cnn videos, ny times. To name just a few. The application library is extensive with the challenge being to find the one that fits the needs a hand. Another essential need for this type of device is to have WiFi and the data link by 3g when the WiFi ia not available. 3g is especially suited to using data link while travelling. Data connection by cell (3g) is very stable. Even in our rural area. Since my cell signal is weak at my house I use tha ATT Microcell to get signal via a DSL. In parts of the house my Wi-Fi router does not reach, I was planning to link via 3g using the ATT Microcell. However, I found out that Ipad 3g is oddly not compatable with the Microcell. It should be noted here too that every 3g data bit counts toward your useage contract with ATT. At $25/month there is still limited data allowed without paying upcharges. Only time will tell me whether this is okay or not. Keep an eye ont the useage data until you get used to this. The entertainment value is much better than I expected. Audio using Shure Ear Buds is very good and loud enough my sorry ears can hear it. Digital copy is finally being included with some Blue-Ray movies. This will probably make it easier to get movies on the ipad without paying again for the movie to reside on the Ipad. I plan to try this asap. Travel with the Ipad is much easier than with a laptop. I use Team Viewer to remotely use my computer via the web and can do anything my laptop can do this way. Printing has to be done via email back to me or use of Dropbox to get the files generated. Would I buy this Ipad again, yes. It is a must have for travel. Surprisingly it gets used at home too. DLR 03-19-2011
