Not the best option for macro
1 of 6 found this helpful Keep in mind this is just my opinion after having tried another macro lenses and reversing rings.
The image quality is good, bokeh, etc. The OS is noisy to the point I thought it was broken and I had to validate with Sigma if it was working normally, and it was!
The OS is useless if you are aiming to use this lens for macro, and even the 2.8 aperture. If you are going for a macro lens, get a manual without OS.

Great lens for the price
You can reviews on internet, but it is a great lens despite of its age. Yes, I agree about the fact there are newer lenses out there like Tamron or Sigma, but they are double of the price. You can still get great pics with this lens. They may not be as sharp as they may be with the others, but, come on! Just a fraction of the price!
Also, I have tested the D version (without the switch to its side but with the ring) and I had to return it because it was dis calibrated. I would suggest you to get this version, in good shape, and you will have a lens for a long time. Its color rendition is great. I would encourage you to look at pics on Flickr and you will be surprised.
Again, it is not as good as a 600-2500 lens, but it is way more than you need to start. For the moment you may learn all the rest of it, you can save or make some extra money and buy the other one. Hope that helps.

One of the few brands that work
I'm not a Samsung fan boy, but I must say that, compared to other brands like Sandisk, this will not fall apart, and it does what it is expected to do. I own 4 of this; no complaints.
