Choosing to Use Carbon Comp Resistors
These, like most carbon composition resistors, were perhaps last made in in the 1980's as best I know. So why should you consider using them? Two reasons that come to mind are personal preferences, like they sound better to you or to use them as authentic replacement parts in vintage electronics that you would like to keep looking original either under the chassis or in some cases in plain view as they would be in some open chassis equipment. So just how do these measure up in terms of tolerance after so many years? I have found that carbon comps are only rarely out of tolerance at 30 years or so of age and perhaps 7 in 8 of them are still in tolerance as they reach 50 years or so of age. I chose to keep using them in vintage gear myself to preserve the original appearance, even under the chassis. The ten 270k resistors in this particular lot were perhaps made in the 1950s though that is just a good guess based on their appearance.. In any event, of the 10 resistors purchased five of them were within their 5% tolerance rating and the remainder where closer to 10%. No problem. The application only called for 10%, I only needed four and had ordered 10. My advise? I always order extra just in case. Hope this helps.

An Excellent Working Long Lasting Right Mount
This is the third time I have installed this Genuine Ford branded part in our Focus that we have had for 15 years. It lasts us about 70,000 miles over about 5 years. It works perfectly to keep engine vibrations very, very low in the body of the car, lasting many years and miles. It is very good at what it does. I did install a Chinese branded mount a few months ago but it was actually worse than the worn out Genuine Ford one I had just removed. So back to Genuine Ford motor mount we went and are very pleased once again.
