Travelpro WalkAbout Lite4 16 in. Rolling Tote - Luggage Wine - MSRP $260
    Feb 08, 2016
Compact, top-loading bag for daily use wins my vote for utility, economy, and style
First, this is an unsolicited review. I did a LOT of research before settling on this bag. I looked at bags ranging from $30 to $600, in person & online, before deciding on this one. Why I chose this bag and my observations now that I have it are below: ----------------------------------- Intended use: I need a computer tote for occasional use to and from meetings and coffee shops and as a carry-on for train and plane. I can't carry backpacks or messenger bags any more--I need wheels. Easy access to contents (i.e., not one that opens like a suitcase) was important, so I wanted a stable, top-loading bag. ------------------------------------ Desired aesthetic: I don't want to look like I'm a salesman with a sample bag nor do I want a sporty backpack. The overall design is a little business-y for me, but the "kicky" bags didn't measure up in the reviews or were for kids (too small/too short). The color is more wine/burgundy than the corally-carmine appearance on my monitor. ------------------------------------ Price: Bought it for $40 on ebay; I saw it for $70 on Amazon at the time of this review. Both prices are an incredible bargain for the quality, space, utility, and design. I don't consider it an "economy bag." ------------------------------------ Space:Capacious for daily use. I tend to travel heavy, even around town, with lots of supplies, jacket, Kindle, tablet, art stuff, etc. (What I really need is a Tardis bag--bigger on this inside than on the outside.) I expect this will meet my needs. * Main compartment: Plenty of room for my laptop, folding laptop platform, electronics accessory bag. Plus, I have room for a small purse/lunch, sweater/wrap/jacket. Or A couple of good-sized books or change of clothes if not too bulky. Do look at the side views. The wheels and handle are set into the main compartment, so the full space based on cubic measurement is not available for packing. There are two elasticized netting pockets on the laptop divider. * Side compartment: The side pocket is very roomy for water bottle or other use. * Front zipper pocket: Fits 8.5x11" documents with room to spare, but it's fairly flat. A ring binder won't fit here. A full journal, e-tablet, or book--or some combination of these--fit fine. My one issue is the claim that it will fit up to 17" computers. A 17" might fit in the middle of the bag in a separate sleeve, but not in the built-in padded compartment. I am speculating here, but here's why: My laptop measures 15" x 10". There is plenty of room in the laptop sleeve. Unfortunately, the top opening is not as wide as the full width of the bag & is u-shaped, curving at the front corners--only 13.5" at its narrowest in the very front where the laptop divider is; 14.5" at its widest. The sides do flex. It was a bit of a squeeze to maneuver the laptop in the first time. I quickly figured out the right moves to take it out easily: grab the corners of my laptop and press outwards on the zipper on each side with the backs of my hands to flex the opening. Sliding it in takes a little angling from the back, where the opening is wider. Not as straightforward as some other types of openings with a slight learning curve, but easy, even with a bit of arthritis. -------------------------------- Size: height, handle extended=41.5", handle retracted and zipped=15 3/8". I'm 5' 7"; it's more than tall enough; depth front to back=10 1/2"; width, side to side, pocket empty=17" -------------------------------- Stability: Stays upright, loaded or empty, handle collapsed or extended. -------------------------------- Miscellaneous observations and features: * Nifty, sliding, built-in luggage tag on the back--nice * Strap across the bag to slip this bag over a larger wheeled bag handle is secured with velcro to keep it tight against the bag when not in use * Seems very quiet rolling across wood floors or sidewalk. I haven't tried it on a seamed floor to see if it makes that awful clacking noise some bags do. * Substantial handle collapses in 4 sections. Stays extended until you push the button to collapse it. There is a trick to collapse it easily--do it fast. Slides right in! * The laptop padding is pretty thin. Not a showstopper. * The flexible top of the main compartment doesn't stay open; I didn't expect it to. I'll use a spring clip to clip it to the handle. Bottom line: Good looks, compact, with a roomy main compartment and quiet "ride." It's tall enough for an average tall adult. It loses a star for the slight loss of ease getting the computer in. I really like the bag!
Canon PIXMA Wireless Home Office All-in-One Printer Copier Scanner INK INCLUDED
    Aug 10, 2020
Functional copy/scan/print capability but difficulty enabling WiFi
This Canon PIXMA MG3620 seems to be an excellent copier/printer/scanner upon first use. Physical set-up and installation of the included ink cartridges (Black & Color) was a breeze. I have not, however, been able to connect it to WiFi despite searching for solutions online and following the enclosed instructions, which seemed clear. I do not know if this is user error. I am using Windows 10 and have had no issues with other WiFi enabled printers in the past. My Brother laser printer and HP Office Jet were easily configured. This one seems to need some combination of arcane button presses (WiFi + Color + etc.) along with a router button press. I was not successful. The printer does not come with a USB cable; luckily I kept mine from a previous printer. Once hooked up directly, it scanned directly to PDF using the Windows Scan Utility and printed a copy from my computer screen with no trouble or delay.
