Kenwood TM-281A is a good rig for the money!
2 of 3 found this helpful This is a great rig for the money. The front firing speaker is a huge plus. The menu is easy to learn and utilize.
I love that the mic is small and simple with only the DTMF and PTT buttons plus 4 programmable buttons. It's not all cluttered up with a bunch of menu buttons like another of the big name manufacturers does. It feels right in my hand.
I have bought many brands of 2 meter mobiles over the years and have been satisfied with most but, for me, this simple yet powerful Kenwood will always be my go to rig because of the few simple thing I've just mentioned above.
Get yourself one. I believe that you'll be quite satisfied too.

This watch was poorly built
I have to say that I liked the watch face as it was easy to read but the mechanism was of the poorest quality.
When attempting to set the time the minute hand would freely flop a full 7 minutes if I tipped the watch to one side or another. Also, the gear ratio of the stem to the minute hand was extremely fast with one full turn equaling one full hour so that a simple 5 minute change of time took a mere bump. Setting it to the exact time was close to impossible as the minute hand would jump when pressing the stem in!
It was quite frustrating and I would not recommend buying it!!

A great pocket recorder!

It was ready to use right out of the box, after installing the batteries, of course. It is very simple to understand the instructions and I had no problems following them. I was surprised to find that the sound quality of the recorder itself is much better than expected when played through headphones or on your computers speakers. I notice that others have complained about the sound quality coming from the internal speaker; it's only 5/8" diameter and it will Not be high fidelity, go figure! Playback through the internal speaker is to be used more for confirming that you have a recording than it would be for playback in front of an audience.
It has dual microphones and it does record in true stereo. I recorded a friend at a podium and when playing back through headphone you could hear when he had shifted from side to side by the panning of his voice. When it came time to upload to my computer it was plug and play. He spoke for over an hour and that hardly put a dent in the available memory.
I am running Vista and it accepted the recorder as if it were just another flash drive memory stick! From the computer, I was able to create a file for the recordings and then click and drag the file from the recorder to its new file on my hard drive. I was also able to easily upload some MP3 files to the recorder and play them back as simply as an I-pod.
The only negative comment I have about the Olympus WS-311M is that you have to slide the battery pack off to to access the USB plug allowing it be misplaced if one is neatness-challenged, as I am.
In closing, I would highly recommend this recorder to anyone in need of a good pocket recorder. It could easily be used for meetings, speakers or perhaps a class. It is very small and discreet, allowing for stealth recordings if the need should arise. Remember that the playback quality is excellent if played through headphones or your computer, but the internal playback amplifier and speaker are not meant to be hi-fidelity.
I am fully satisfied with my purchase of this recorder and I know you will be too!
