Works - eventually - but poor Quality Control

This would be a 4 or 5 Star review if it weren't for bad Quality Control. Since it's a refurbished unit, you might think they would perform a start-up test before shipping, but... Bad News - non-existence Quality Control. Set up per instructions, and "empty container" light immediately came on, so the unit won't run. As if the Tank was full, except it was empty. After a lot of exploration (most people wouldn't bother) I found that the float switch was taped down with clear shipping tape! Not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, and not at all visible. Carefully removed the tape, and it STILL WOULDN'T RUN! So I looked inside and found that the switch was not connected - 1 of the wires was just hanging loose! So I connected that switch, and it runs now. Clearly, no one performed a start-up test before shipping. So-So news - I know all dehumidifiers put out some heat, but this one puts out a lot of heat. Really warms the rooms. And the Fan is a bit loud. The Good News - It dehumidifies the air well, and the automatic pump is a really nice feature. And after a bunch post-purchase QC work, it seems like a reliable unit at a good price. I'll post further if I decide to return it. Right now, I'm leaning toward keeping it. ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER - I'm going to keep this item - it seems to work well despite all the initial poor quality issues. But if you're not mechanically inclined to solve problems, this might not be a good unit for you. BUT - if you're lucky & get one that works right out of the box, it's a pretty good unit.
