Memories -
My father was stationed at NAS Anacostia on March 3, 1939 when First Lady, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, christened the Yankee Clipper. I have a couple of newspaper clippings, one with the headline "World's Largest Airline - ", well it was at the time. There's the program, a Guest Flight Pass, a world map of air routes flown by PanAm, and a couple of flight information brochures in the folder. Now I have THE model of the Boeing 314 flying boat, NC18603 (the back of the newspaper article has an add for a Philco Radio for $42.25, a GE refrigerator for $119.50. The radio is almost the size of the fridge).

GREAT MOVIE - But Take Care Of The Format -
The movie was excellent, good sound, good picture - but it would not play on a standard DVD player. The package label says "CLASSIC DVD SERIES", but nowhere else does the word DVD appear. Nowhere on the package label or disc does a region code appear. All the package label says is "Movie", plus United Artists, year, time, and B&W. I got the movie to play on a High Definition Blu-Ray player that is capable of playing all regions so I don't know what its region code is.

A Good Story With A Great Melody -
The plot is OK, it's 1941 pre WWII. The characters are believable, sort of. The settings are interesting, from bombed out buildings to concert halls. The actors do fine, for that period and era. But the music is wonderful, it's the Warsaw Concerto. Read the background on IMDB.com.
