PIQUED OUR INTEREST IN THIS PERIOD OF HISTORY
We have always loved good historical movies and television series. This series piqued our interest in an period previously ignored on our part, and because of the abrupt ending, we have been investigating other sources to fill in the gap, such as an online Catholic encyclopedia site. It was rewarding to find out that Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere had survived, and that he became Pope Julius II, following the deaths of Alexander VI (Borgia) and Pius III (26 day reign).
If you like period pieces, you will enjoy the series. The acting, costumes, depiction of warfare and torture, and the opulent lives of the elite (and the corruption that bought it) were dazzling, yet disgusting. Be prepared to feel some dismay that another season didn't follow to take the series to Borgia's deathbed and the transition that followed.

Sharpest hooks I've seen in over 50 years of fishing
Not only are they extremely sharp, but these Matzuo Aberdeen Sickle hooks will stay sharp after catching several fish. And because of the sickle bend, they are very strong too for a thin wire hook; won't straighten out as easily as other hooks do. I am primarily a live bait (minnow) fisherman. Because of the light weight of these hooks, my bait minnows don't get exhausted nearly as fast as they normally do when they have a thicker, or heavier wire hook sticking through the snout. A free swimming or wiggling minnow normally catches more fish than a lifeless looking, motionless minnow will. I'm sure these particular hooks will also work just as well with leaf worms that are impaled in the middle of the worm just past the barb of the hook. That's all I ever do with leaf worms, just prick the barb into them. Because that way the worms can wiggle freely and you will find that they very rarely pull themselves off the barb of a hook. That ability of a worm to wiggle freely on a hook is a natural and very enticing sight to any fish. That's why I never "thread" a worm on a hook, it takes all the motion out of the bait. Sure, lifeless looking baits will sometimes catch fish, but the more natural the bait looks in the water, the more fish, especially the bigger ones, you will attract. I love these hooks, best I've ever seen for live bait fishing..

Two of my favorite vacation spots - Manhattan and Amish Country
1 of 1 found this helpful We were in lower Manhattan on vacation when the "He's got a gun." scene was being filmed (though evidently without Tim Allen). Love it.
