A worthy purchase for many musicians.
Much common-sense material, pertinent to both pops and classical arranging. There is verbiage that seems too simple, but this material is particularly important because it speaks the purpose of an arrangement being built on top of a melody, harmony, lyrics and a soloist instead of being an entity unto itself. The setting of a jewel should never outshine the jewel itself. Nelson Riddle was a master craftsman, and this book has the core of his underlying philosophy and lessons-learned in acquiring his skills, saving many of us additional work putting dents in our head against the desk finding this out for ourselves.
