Creative Technology ZEN Nano Plus (1 GB) MP3
This seemed to be the best compromise-- I wanted a small device to play MP3 recordings (mostly talk show type stuff), with radio receiver. The Zen Nano Plus only has FM, but it does okay on that. It works well for the MP3 voice stuff, and plays for a long time on a battery (AAA). And it certainly is small, about the size of a ten-stick pack of gum, and very light weight. The ear buds that came with it work well, producing better sound than some I've used. (I haven't had occasion to use the belt clip or armband holder that also came with it, but the look functional.)
The software installed easily and works well under windows XP. Downloads from the computer to the Zen are not particularly fast, though. The USB cable is fine if you have front panel jacks, but at 21 inches would be a little short if you needed to plug it into the back of a "desktop" computer sitting on the floor.
The controls are tiny (they have to be on such a small device) and take a little getting used to, but let one get through the functions with relative ease. A nice feature is that the player resumes play at the point where it was turned off when you turn it on again; this is especially good when listening to voice recordings.
All in all, it seems to be a good device.

The right part for the job
It's an original equipment replacement that fits perfectly and restores the Dustbuster's suction.

A good little monochrome printer
A good little monochrome printer. I had one that got regular use for several years. It's electronics apparently got fried in a power glitch, so I bought another. It's a laser printer, so you don't have to worry about ink drying up if you don't use it for a while (as when you're on vacation for a few weeks), and the toner cartridges seem to last a long time. And the photosensitive roller that the image is formed on is part of the cartridge, so it starts out new with every new cartridge.
