Good tablet with good performance
I'm used to an iPad Mini v1 and bought this is the Mini needed upgrading.
The first thing I noticed is that the Air is a lot larger and therefore a bit heavier, though it is not particularly heavy I tend to 'rest' this tablet more whilst I'm using it.
The screen is excellent, the retina has pixels that are so small that you cannot see them, the end result is a display that really does look like paper.
Battery life is good and generally lasts me two days using it 2-4 hours per day while we're looking up YouTube videos and bits for the house we're renovating.
The sound is quite good for a tablet too, noticeably clearer than the iPad Mini.
It also supports Slideover which is handy as it lets you multitask, for example I was looking for cars in the AutoTrader app and could 'slide over' the Safari app so I could do the MOT checks from the gov website while still looking at the car registration and photos at the same time.
The Air runs the latest IOS and will continue to do so for a while as it has a 64bit processor so you're safe for a few years with upgrades etc.
It's a great tablet and excellent value if you buy a 'refurb' model as it will last you a long time as Apple do keep updating the software regularly for free. You also get access to the best quality Apps from the App Store.

Works ok on USB3 but pulls A LOT of power when connected
This is a slot loading drive and looks virtually identical to the genuine Apple drive, it comes with a plastic leather effect zip pouch.
The drive works well with my 2017 MacBook which has USB-C through a converter, I've managed to read and burn a couple of disks.
However - When plugging the drive in to my USB3 hub it pulls so much power that it disconnects any other device plugged into the hub and will not spin up. Therefore it's only usable when plugged directly into the computer so it gets access to the full power available on the port.
That said I'm still keeping the drive for the odd occasion I need it but it's obviously built down to a price and if I were to use an optical drive regularly I'd be returning it for something better made.

Understated, well built, quiet.
This is a solid, well thought out case with plenty of wiggle room. It’s stylish and quiet.
