2002 SUBARU OUTBACK
2 of 2 found this helpful Some folks get squeamish about buying cars on ebay, but I'm batting 1,000% with the two I have bought. This 02 Outback would be the second of the two cars I've bought on ebay and Auto Plus of Westport MA did a wonderful job describing it, communicating with me, and even offering to pick me up at the terminal in Providence. The price was excellent, and the car was in excellent condition for a 7 year old with over 100k on it. Yes, I will have some maintenance work to do on it, but that was expected. It will be our family's primary car now and we do a combination of city and highway driving, but this Outback really shines in the snow. To paraphrase a friend of mine,"Outback is the Japanese word for snowmobile!!" We held out for a 5 speed manual transmission as repairs on the automatic are really expensive and often cost more than the car is worth.
The car is quiet, drives nicely, seats are comfortable(I drove it 19 hours back home!), and it gets upper 20's for highway mileage on 87-89 octane gas. I held out for a reasonably priced 2000 or later due to the simplicity of the single overhead cam engine as opposed to the earlier DOHC that the 2.5 Outback had. This is our 2nd Subaru and we could own a third if the right deal came along. I don't like the body style of the newer ones(or the sticker price!), so finding a cherry one of this vintage was just what we wanted.

Still Shines After All These Years!!!
This book was written long before DVD's and the internet became popular media for paddling instruction, and it still is relevant today oddly enough. Although I consider Tom Foster a friend and mentor, his perspective on paddling whitewater makes sense to most anyone trying to improve their skills in a solo canoe. He has some unique terms for river features and then breaks them down to explain what he is conveying. This is likely not a good book for the entry level paddler, unless you want to get it right the first time and not have to re-learn proper technique after several years of hacking around in a canoe. Consider this a 200 level course. Precision Paddling is the name of the game and Tom's Precision Paddling will lead you to catching more eddies and surfing more waves and using less effort to do so. OEM Toyota parts are worth the cost.
Came in the OEM Toyota bag and fit like it should. What's not to like??
