Not as bright as 921 bulb
3 of 3 found this helpful I was very please the item arrived very quickly - 4 days ahead of schedule. Ive had the same challenges as many others have - the base connection is thinner than a 921 bulb also a traditional 921 bulb is much brighter than these LEDs. When they work - its better as a glow light like a license plate light vs brake light or back uo lights. Just not bright enough. I used the solder trick to help with the contact problems & it worked great. You get what you pay for.

OE part with non-OE operation / results
I purchased the item and was impressed at how quickly they arrived , they were well packaged & the instructions are straightforward! WOW - finally an aftermarket part that doesn’t turn into a disaster. Wrong! - after install .... very hard to close trunk ( I can live with because they’re brand new & hope the will break in ) next very hard to open trunk, because it is so tight you can’t get your fingers under the lip to lift a truck -
I like to be an optimistic person so here are 2 positives - 1- the trunk will not fall down now and 2- I don’t need to lock it because he can’t get into it open. I don’t like to criticize without offering possible solutions - I believe they are a smidge too long - I had swapped them around tried every configuration possible to get it to work like an OE lift to no-avail.
I have a 2005 VW beetle convertible GLS 2.0 L with manual 5 speed transmission - it’s a project car I bought for my youngest daughter to work on together & help teach some common sense! The project has been great - I’ve learned coming from my teenage daughter that🐾 “ Manual beetles are STUPID and NO-ONE likes driving them” - my sarcastic cynical response was “thank you for that informative valid feedback! FYI - if you need to go anywhere I hope you have money for an Uber” - 2 yrs later, my daughter still doesn’t have a car and My wife and I love the “Sand Beetle”, it’s great going to the beach with our dawgs in the back or driving around town it’s a blast to drive!

Much better than original
I replaced the original ones that rusted out in less than two years but we do a lot of grilling. If anything it could be a hair longer but no complaints. They came within two days and were well packed. The attention to detail is noticeable in the past other bars I’ve purchased for my grills usually have very sharp points on the corner and they ground there’s down, well done 👍
