A Powerful Dramatisation Of A Now Famous Book
1 of 1 found this helpful The original book by Rhonda Byrne was recommended to me by a friend. I had heard so much about it, and found a new hardback copy on e-bay. Having read the book, I decided to buy the dvd to further enhance the book, and to serve as an introduction to the book to my family and close friends.
I had noticed that,of the same product listings, some are legal 'copies' and as such do not have sealed dvds or sleeve notes, original packaging. I would recommend looking for the words 'original sealed dvd'.
The dvd itself I found very entertaining and a drama version of the book's meaning and content. Although the acting was somewhat muted, the concept of the story was brought to life or dramatised. It served as a good introduction, or in my case, an enhancement.
The production was generally excellent, and although slow in places the concept is put across very well!

BRASIL 500 (From Carnival To Copcabana) Various Artists
A compilation CD from 2000, with an enticing cover of samba girl on the front and Copacabana beach on the reverse.
The track listing is diverse, but contains some real hard-to-find gems like the anthemic Gilberto Gil's 'Toda Menina Baiana', and Airto's 'Samba De Flora'. The excellent Paulinho De Costa appears too along with George Duke's 'Brazilian Love Affair', although sadly they are edited versions. Flora Purim does an excellent rendition of 'Agua De Beber', a more jazzy groove than Astrud Gilberto's original. And there are some good ballads here too, from the likes of Elis Regina and Jorge Ben. James Last teams up with Astrud Gilberto for a version of 'I'm Nothing Without You' also.
For me, the overall flavour of the compilationn is a good slice of Rio's finest beaches and city life, uplifting, sensitive, but all full of life!
