HP Pavilion DV2180US
This is a solid 14.4" screen laptop with the AMD dual-core technology. It has all of the features that I needed including a good sized HD, 2 GB ram, and a decent screen. I opted to replace the used 6-cell battery with a new 12-cell that I purchased on Ebay for $55, and it has plenty of power.

Powerful and compact
The Latitude 620 is about 4 years old, but still does a nice job running everyday Office Suite applications, internet surfing, and media play. The compact size and ergonomic keyboard work well for my uses.
