Why I Treasure "In the Heart of the Sea"
Oddly, I am related to the Thomas Nickerson in the movie "In the Heart of the Sea". My ancestor was William Nickerson who settled in what is now Chatam, Mass. He would have been an ancestor of Thomas Nickerson. I was in awe of how people (14 years old) could sail out into the ocean for two years, hunt whale, and sometimes face a death of slow starvation and lack of water AND yet still come back to society and have a good go at life. Thomas was sure of stronger stock than I would think that I am built.
I also like history and I was depressed how owners of boats put their profit ahead of people's lives. And these were "religious" people! God-fearing? Actually they seemed like slavers to me.
I am pleased to own the DVD and will treasure it as long as I have a player to view the disc on.
