A smart and quiet design!
These are not cheap and there's a reason for that. They are well designed, well built and made of quality materials.
Installation was reasonably easy (a second set of hands is recommended, I will use them next time when they come off after the season), there aren't a bunch small bolts, screws or nuts to fiddle with but a very smartly designed system to attach and tighten the straps. While you will need some degree of dexterity and strength to tighten and close the mounting straps (by the way, 2 methods of attaching these to different bars are provided, I have flat bars and used that one), the overall ease to mount and sense of security that is evident makes this a minor thing I feel, just realize that as with any product of this nature there will always be some degree of difficulty to install.
I would recommend fully looking over the instructions as well as working with the parts to get a feel of how it all works before attaching them to the crossbars. This will make installation quicker and easier. As for the second set of hands, having them to steady the rack as you work secure the one end will keep it from falling over and damaging the roof of your new vehicle...
The locks work perfectly, unlike the cheaper racks I tried which don't really "lock" with a specific key but with any key or flat screwdriver. The latching mechanism on the FatCats is solid and secure.
The previous set of racks I tried howled and made such buffeting noise that my wife thought someone with heavy bass was thumping next to her. These are very quiet, I can hear some noise but nothing like the previous ones, -I had to take them off immediately and return them. The Fatcats have stayed on and my wife is just fine.

Brilliant spares!
After 12 years the OEM struts were down for the count (like as soon as you let go of the lid lol), and after searching the web and seeing plenty of options, this was by far the best price and thankfully the parts didn't disappoint. Fit was spot on, build quality looked as good as any I've bought before.
