An all-time Se-Fi classic, a book to enjoy the rest of your life
An all-time classic. While the expansive story alone creates an exciting read, it's the soul-searching questions boiling out of the narrative that will grab you.
This edition includes an introduction from Card looking back on the genesis of the story and the book's impact on a number of young readers who were moved to describe its importance in their lives. That's right, this book can be life affirming for youngsters bright enough to sense the darkness we all face at times growing up.
Without ever belittling the military, and with no preaching, the story relentlessly dissects intended and unintended consequences of military solutions to disagreements between populations.
Suitable for bright youngsters age 10 and up. Should be suggested reading for all pre-teens and teens, and required reading for youths contemplating the military.

Perhaps Ivan Noel's greatest effort and a great film
Ivan Noel's last film and one of his best especially considering the many challenges he faced with the shooting. His films all have weaknesses and don't look for big-buck Hollywood polish. And maybe the story lines are stretched a bit to encompass all the spontaneous shoots that happen along the way. But they all confront societal issues, sometimes in your face, sometimes with disarming subtlety.
Loved this movie, Ivan may you rest in peace, may your films live on.

Classic CD, one of the very few from this world class pianist, a must hear
One of the few Sultanov CD's, great orchestra and conductor. I would normally knock a star or two off for what for me is less than ideal sound balancing (but then I'm a stickler, raised as an orchestra brat, classical music nut) but the solo work is simply superb and a formidable introduction to this tragically short-lived Russian pianist who died at age 35 of complications of several strokes.
