Molly and the Movie Star by Valerie Tripp
All the Molly stories are great to teach youngsters about life in 1944, and about life during World War 2. There are 5 little books in this particular series. Molly and the Movie star, Molly's Puppy Tale, Molly's A+ Partner, Molly Marches On, Molly Takes Flight. This set is wonderful.
I have managed to complete my set through E-Bay as the set has been retired. The combined stories are available in one volume and I highly recomend these, anyway you can get them, as they are invaluable as a teaching aid for this period of time.
At the end of this book is a section about how movie stars helped to sell war bonds to help fund the war. There is a project at the end that is fun to do as a family. The stories are good for boys and girls alike.
As a Molly American Girl doll collector, I can relate to my grandchildren what life was like for me as well. I am a child of the 50's but the life style was so similar, it was not till the 60's things changed so dramatically socially. The grandchildren, both boys and girls have responded very well to these books.

super-man guitar
Got this as a thank you for my son, he owns many many guitars. This was just for fun as we have given him Superman shirts, caps, pj's since he was little. He's 40 now.. ;)
He got a kick out of it. It has an OK sound, more for a beginner, but he played it a bit. It was what I can afford, it's fun, he was appreciative.
