All hail the Ludwig snare drum.
This is the best bang for your buck. 8x14 depth snares definitely the new craze. And although there are many other budget snares, this one is the best for many reasons. Stainless steel is an underrated material. Great for big sounds and cutting through loud guitars. The beefy depth that comes from an 8” shell is perfect. The tube lugs are definitely a nice touch similar to the higher end drums. The P88-I throw off is absolute perfection in Ludwig snares. I prefer over the first model p88 that has the click style turn knob. The butt plate is similar to Ludwig’s higher end stuff too. Last but not least… it is a Ludwig. In 10 years and definitely in 20 years, this snare will absolutely increase in value. ALL Ludwig snares do. And yes. Even the “budget/student” line snares increase. It will always be worth what you paid and will increase over time if you take care of it. Buy them now while they are cheap. You’ll remember this review later on.
I added Stick Chopper hoops, 30 strand wires and Remo Ambassador. Absolute killer snare. I enjoy this more than my 6.5x14 Supraphonic and my 8x14 Ludwig Maple Standard
