Dance with the Devil : A Memoir of Murder and Loss by Dave Bagby

Vivid account of heartbreaking and infuriating events; convincingly argues for reforms
Really heartbreaking and infuriating real-life story. The author details events and his experience with clarity and, where necessary, thoughtful explanation and analysis. He makes a compelling and convincing case for reform of the bail system and extradition law in Canada, as well as providing an unforgettable larger account of both the evil that individuals are capable of, and also the evil that can result from negligence within a bureaucratic system. Though they do not focus on themselves, it is apparent that the author and his wife are hardworking, goodhearted people who have done everything possible to change things so that other people will not have to endure one (actually more than one) of the worst situations imaginable.

A complete rethinking of the possibilities of the comic-book genre
Very interesting approach to the comics format. Great antidote to the superhero genre -- it's the ordinary man genre. Pekar's honesty about himself is refreshing.

The best Harvey Pekar anthology to get
This is the anthology to get, because it combines the first two anthologies (the ones released in the mid-1980s) into one anthology. The Harvey Pekar comics take the medium in a detailed, real-life direction like nothing else has, and his honesty about himself and small situations is very relatable and compelling.
