Instant gratification and guilty pleasure all in one
Like many giallo, the story doesn't make a lot of sense and is the better for it. Dagmar Lassander and Susan Scott being in the same movie, combined with the usual Ernesto Gastaldi plot machinations made this instant gratification of the highest order.

The Criterion transfer is better but the extra features on this version are superior
Talking too much about the story here would run the risk of spoilers, and this movie is one of grand daddies of surprise endings. In terms of the blu ray transfer, this predated the Criterion, is single layered, and for some reason is more overscanned. Nonetheless, without direct comparison it is fine. The reason I bought this was for the special features, which included a commentary for the whole movie, not just scene specific. It was worth it for that!

Chiba Shinichi -- a man of many faces
When I was living in Japan in the late 70s - early 80s, Chiba Shinichi was everywhere, including television commercials. So, it was fun to revisit these films in surprisingly restored versions. So many Japanese films from the same era, even in Blu Ray, do not look good, so these restorations are a pleasure.
